1994: Cambridge Time CapsuleTime Capsule Buried in Cambridge in 1994Do you know there is a time capsule in Cambridge? If not, well there is. It is located across the street from Central Presbyterian Church in Dalton Court. Spencer Dalton's Drug Store was on the corner beside the court (thebusiness closed in 1984). There are many historical items in the capsule of which one is our 80th. Birthday Banquet brochure. This is a four- page booklet containing history and order of ceremonies for the evening. The birthday event was held at the Old Post Office Restaurant (opposite the closed down Capitol Theater)on Fri., May 14th. 1982. This was quite an exciting evening! Gordon Trim piped in the head table and dignitaries such as Alderman John Florence, M.P.P. Bill Barlow, Pres. COMA Local 226, John Conrad, guest speaker Mr. Henry Shannon and his wife also some Kilties. Mr. Shannon was the "morning man" on CFRB and also had a Sunday evening programme called "MEN OF BRASS." He was introduced by Fred Budd. Frank Gadd thanked Mr. Shannon and also Frank received a Long Service Award Presentation. Neil Harvie, who spearheaded this event introduced Wilf Manning (past National Pres. of Can. Band Directors Assoc.) who gave a down to earth speech. I could go on and on about this evening but will stop; however, everyone went to the band hall after the ceremonies and the festivities continued. All enjoyed the piano stylings of Betty Hancock and listening to the "Over The Hill Gang" playing. After they stopped Rance, Kari, Gord, Kendra, Allen had their horns and played also. Carrie, and "Chuck" Adams, (long time Preston band bandmaster) took turns inleading the group. It was some super evening, I'll tell you!! I have a picture album for this 80th. do. One picture isworth a thousand words.
