Galt Kiltie Band

History Article Index

The Galt Kiltie band has been going strong, ever since its humble beginnings as a pick-up band for a MacGregor Gouldy Co. excursion to Elora in 1902. Through the ages the band has travelled far and wide, and has had an interesting and varied history.

The goal of this section of the Galt Kiltie Band website, is to give you rough idea of what this band has done in the past and for you to appreciate its rich history. Most of the material you will find on this page was complied and written by Bob Fox in the form of reports and band newsletters. Bob Fox has played saxophone in the band since 1945! Everything that you see on this site was gathered together and re-typed in 1999 by Graham Nasby, the Galt Kiltie Band's WebMaster.

Long-time member of the band, Bob Fox (50 years in 1999!), is seriously considering writing a book about this history of the band, which is the oldest continuously running band in Waterloo County. For his planned book, the band has more than enough history to fill several volumes, so what is here on the website is meant to just give you a taste of what is to come.
