Cambridge Tuesday June 9, 2009 2-4 and 7-9, funeral is at Trinity Anglican in

In July 1902, the oldest marching and concert band in Waterloo County
came into being. Initially named the "Galt Band", it soon
decided to adopt the distinctive red and green uniform of the 1895 Black
Watch Highlanders. This new look brought a new name as well -- "The
Galt Kiltie Band" -- and well over 100 years later, the close-knit
group of musicians has entertained the crowds all across Southern
Ontario.
The Kilties provide music in the community and an opportunity for local
musicians to play together in a quality band. They play summer concerts
in the parks, at seniors homes, appear at shopping centres, and play in
the occasional parade. The band also challenges themselves at various
competitions during the year.
Players of all ages make up the membership of the band. High school
students, seasoned veterans from military backgrounds, adults, and seniors all
combine to create great music! The band rehearses, by the kind consent
of the members, in the upper hall of the Galt Legion Local 121 (on the
corner of Walnut & Ainslie streets) every Tuesday night from 7:30pm-9:00pm.
